The Certified Nursing Assistant Program here at Life Care is approved by the Department of Health and Hospitals and Louisiana Board of Regents. The curriculum covers 40 hours of classroom instruction taught by licensed nurses and 40 hours of clinical application conducted at a skilled nursing facility. This style of instruction is both lecture/lab and clinic-based. Students learn techniques using the tools professionals use in the field. Life Care is owned and operated by individuals of integrity and honesty. Life Care was established to provide individuals the opportunity to get their first step into healthcare. After many years, founder, Irene Magee decided to start Life Care to offer her experience and training to individuals in the local community and surrounding areas. Life Care instructors, Irene Magee, RN (Program Coordinator) and David Casey, LPN possess a wealth of experience in a wide variety of instructional areas in the medical field. Instructors have experience in such topics as Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, Infection Control, Vital Signs, as well as such critical adjunct skills as Communications, and Documenting & Reporting. Students are imparted with elements of professionalism required to acquire and sustain a career in the Allied Health Professions. Instructors have received awards in superior academic instruction voted for and bestowed on behalf of students, including both Teacher of the Year and a Who's Who of American Teacher awards.
